Colin Adamson - Violin Maker

End of Year update

2016 has been a busy and positive year for the workshop.  I have secured commissions right through until 2018, mostly for violins and one viola to make mid summer 2017.  Of the commissions this year, one violin went to Aberdeen, one to Glasgow, a viola went to America and the latest violin is going to Germany.

I am currently working 0n a Guarneri violin and about to start a Lord Wilton Guarneri.  I haven’t made a Lord Wilton for a while so I’m reading up and studying information and literature I have gathered over the years, I’m really looking forward to the challenge.

Still missing and coming to terms with the loss of our friend and colleague Neil Ertz.  I miss our chats and catch ups about the violin world and my thoughts are very much with his family at this time of year.

It’s been a special year for concerts, Nigel Kennedy in January, Maxim Vengerov in the summer and Nicola Beneditti in October.  All very different but equally stunning.

My plans for 2017 include the BVMA Makers’ Day in March, Sunday 12th March, Kings Place, 19 York Way, London.  I’m not sure what instruments I’ll be taking but I’ll know nearer the time.  I’ll be doing the Amati again in the Langham Hotel in London in October, dates to be confirmed.

Another busy year approaches! Wishing everyone a very peaceful Christmas and all good things for 2017.
