I now play on a Viola made by Colin Adamson during the summer of 2020. It is based on the 1676 “Conte Vitali” Andrea Guarneri viola and is 41.3 cm /16.25 inches in length.
As soon as I played it I fell in love with not only the look, but the extraordinary sound. This viola has a rich and golden tone allied to enormous power and projection. These qualities are distributed evenly across all 4 strings. It is one of the finest violas I have ever heard.
The quality of tone wood that Colin has to offer is phenomenal and the bridge and setup are expertly done. Finely tuned immaculate setups are one of Colin’s specialities.
This model of Viola is so easy to play, and I am finding it hard to put down.
I want to urge any viola players out there to put in an order for one of these instruments.
