Summer has finally arrived in North Berwick after a long, hard winter!
Finally got the new workshop set up in the large attic, enjoying the peace and quiet and the views over the roof tops of North Berwick. I’m just awaiting planning for another velux to be put in which will give me a view to the sea. Commissions are going well, working my way through my second Guarneri of the year. I have an exciting commission coming up, a young and very talented folk musician Ryan Young, who has won and been shortlisted for numerous awards, including Finalist in the Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2015 and 2016, and voted best musician 2018 for folking.com. He has chosen an early period Guarneri for it’s distinctive and mellow sound.
I had some wood dealers visit me in North Berwick recently and after digging through their wood pile, picked out four beautiful backs which will make stunning violins!
It could be a quiet year, not many exhibitions taking place this year, so will knuckle down and get making, but also find plenty time to enjoy walking with the dog along the beach and the beautiful sunsets.
Colin made me a Guarneri violin back in 2016 and I’ve been extremely happy with it. It makes a beautiful sound and it’s seen me through conservatoire and now into my professional career. It’s a gorgeous instrument and I look forward to many years to come with it by my side. Colin is lovely to work with and always very interested and helpful whenever I take my violin to get serviced. I am the proud and delighted owner of a Colin Adamson Guarneri copy violin which was made for me in 2019. Despite my being just a very keen amateur player, Colin was lovely to deal with at every stage of the violin commission and I always felt a cherished customer.
