This viola is loosely based on the Conte Vitale Viola, Andrea Guarneri 1676. I have redesigned the top and bottom bouts to shorten the viola and the size is now 400mm/15 1/2 inches.

The viola still has the lovely, warm, bright and powerful tone of the Conte Vitale and is an ideal size for the viola players that want a smaller instrument but do not want to compromise the classic viola sound and tone.

I have made many of these smaller Guarneri violas over the years using the original full size viola and drawing inspiration from the pictures and plaster casts I have studied over the last 20 years
